Ruben Amorim has confirmed the latest reports from Fabrizio Romano on one particular Manchester United star.
Manchester United have had a difficult season and Ruben Amorim’s appointment has not been able to turn things around so far.
The Reds have struggled to adapt to the head coach’s new system but the injury problems within his squad have not helped either.
Lisandro Martínez has been lost for the entire season after being one of the few players to impress under the Portuguese boss.
United then lost Amad to a long-term injury after a freak incident in training in mid-February. He was the standout performer following Amorim’s appointment.
Amorim confirms Romano report on Amad
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, known for his strong connections with Amad and his entourage, recently provided a positive update on the player’s injury situation.
Romano shared an update on X claiming that Amad is “progressing well” in his recovery and is currently ahead of schedule.
While the club staff remain cautious and are avoiding unnecessary risks, Romano revealed there is a “real chance” the player could return before the season concludes despite previous reports claiming that he would be out of action for the entire season.
Following on from this, Amorim confirmed those reports in his latest press conference, where he said that the club are “really confident” that the 22-year-old will play again this season.
“I don’t know, I think he’s going to play still. He’s still playing this season. I don’t know when, but we are really confident on that,” the United boss told reporters.
“Unbelievable” Amad could provide Europa League boost
Seeing the return of Amad, who has been described as “unbelievable” by Louis Saha, would be a major boost for Amorim’s side.
The Reds are in desperate need of winning the Europa League this season and the Ivorian would only help their chances with that if they are able to reach the final rounds.
Should the Reds beat Lyon in the quarter-finals, the games for the semi-finals are set to be played on 1 May and 8 May.
Amad may well be in contention to play in those games if you go by reports and Amorim’s comments, although it would be more likely for him to be an option off the bench.

The final is played on 21 May and that could give Amad enough time to build some fitness to start in Bilbao, however, United need to get there first.
