Rasmus Hojlund’s first taste of success at Napoli has led to an indirect message towards Manchester United and Ruben Amorim as he celebrates with fellow former Red, Scott McTominay.
22-year-old, Rasmus Hojlund has found a new life in the light blue of Naples as he triumphed in the Italian Super Cup final with a 2-0 victory against Bologna, securing Napoli’s first trophy of the season.
The Denmark international found himself sidelined under Ruben Amorim after a rough summer, causing Hojlund to be left out of the squad in Manchester United’s Premier League opener against Arsenal.
Following the attacking arrivals of Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, Hojlund quickly re-united with former Old Trafford teammate, Scott Mctominay, fresh from earning the Serie A MVP and winning the Italian title with Napoli.
The Dane signed on a season long loan, where Hojlund has become a starter and crucial player in Antonio Conte’s side, scoring seven goals and securing two assists in 19 matches.
His recent success matches the amount of silverware won in a United shirt as he won the FA Cup in his debut season, but the striker has made his feelings clear as he took to social media following his victory in the Super Cup.
Hojlund makes “great decision” leaving Manchester United
Hojlund posted a picture of himself holding the Super Cup trophy to his Instagram with the caption firing an indirect message towards Amorim. It stated, “This is what a great decision looks like.”
This largely hints at Hojlund’s eventual decision to leave Old Trafford despite having a clear love and passion for the club and desire to perform in the shirt.
Hojlund has a history of being vocal on social media, often in a more humorous manner, for example, his message to Kyle Walker after an embarrassing dive in United’s 2-1 win against rivals, Manchester City, last season.
The Dane captioned his post, “Manchester is red, Violets are blue, What a brilliant performance, But the Oscar goes too…” sparking reaction from both sets of fans.
Hojlund has revived his career with McTominay
The Serie A looks to be the perfect fit for Hojlund as he has found the ability that he showed before his £72m move to Old Trafford.
Napoli have a £38m obligation to make the move permanent for Hojlund if they qualify for the Champions League, and with Napoli currently fighting for the top spot in the league, Champions League football is barely in doubt.

Hojlund was quick to pose alongside McTominay amid their celebrations, who was seen, cigar in hand and in the form of his life.
The Scotsman has already secured 2026 World Cup qualification and will hope to secure another trophy this season, potentially earning back-to-back league titles.
