Rasmus Højlund shoots down Rúben Amorim myth, naming what makes him ‘most excited’
Rasmus Højlund has dispelled a myth about Rúben Amorim, naming what excites him most about the new Manchester United head coach.
Manchester United have officially announced Ruben Amorim as their new Head Coach, following Erik ten Hag’s exit from Old Trafford.
Although ten Hag was given a contract extension over the summer, a difficult start to the season left United in 14th place in the Premier League and 21st in the Europa League, leading to his departure last week. United moved quickly to secure Amorim as his successor.

Amorim will begin his role on 11 November, with his first match set for 24 November in an away fixture against Ipswich Town.
With the change in bosses quite a radical one at Old Trafford, the press has been keen to obtain the opinion of many United players, one of whom is Rasmus Højlund.
Why Højlund is excited
Speaking to Danish TV station ViaPlay, Højlund explained that he is really looking forward to his second ranking under Amorim. He revealed that he has spoken to Sporting midfielder and fellow Danish international Morten Hjulmand about the Portugese manager.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” Tipsbladet quote him as saying. “Good ideas. I have seen how they play. I have spoken to Morten (Hjulmand, Sporting midfielder) about it, and he is also very satisfied with the coach, so I am really looking forward to him setting foot here.”
Asked when he first became aware of Amorim, he explained: “I don’t quite know that. After all, we just generally talk at the club, or when we are with the national team, about how things are going.
“There, he (Hjulmand) just talked about cool ideas and a slightly different approach than he might be used to.”
Further, Højlund explained that he is very excited to work as part of Amorim’s back-three formation that he is likely to deploy at Old Trafford as he embeds his way of thinking into the squad.
“From what I’ve seen so far, it’s a three-back chain, and it might be a little different from what I’ve been used to in the past. So it will be exciting to see how he will implement his ideas.”
Dispelling a myth
Further, Højlund dispelled the myth that Amorim’s age, at just 39, may be an issue. Amorim has not had a lot of managerial experience under his belt, but Højlund feels his age could be an advantage.
“I am very much looking forward to working with a young and ambitious manager,” he explained.
“I think it is only good. He has an understanding of what the new, modern football is like. I don’t necessarily see it as a bad thing that he is young. On the contrary, it might even give something extra.”
