Rasmus Højlund has issued a brutal verdict on his Manchester United teammates following the club’s 3-2 loss against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Manchester United fell to a 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford as Nottingham Forest claimed all three Premier League points on Saturday afternoon.

The match got off to a dramatic start when Nikola Milenkovic headed Forest into the lead just two minutes in, capitalizing on a corner. United quickly responded, with Rasmus Højlund tapping in a rebound from Alejandro Garnacho‘s effort to level the score in the 18th minute.

After the break, Forest once again struck early, regaining the lead within two minutes of the restart, leaving Rúben Amorim visibly frustrated. Chris Wood then extended the visitors’ advantage, but Bruno Fernandes pulled one back with half an hour still to play.

Despite United’s determination to stage a comeback, they couldn’t make the most of their momentum, as Amorim endured his first home defeat at Old Trafford.

Højlund’s honest verdict

Speaking to club media following the loss, goalscorer Højlund offered an honest and fairly brutal assessment of his United teammates, explaining that conceding three goals is annoying and that the squad need to play better.

“It is annoying to concede three at home against Forest,” Hojlund told MUTV. “We conceded some irritating goals, you could say.

“We need to do better, all of us. It is not just down to individuals, we all need to do better and today could have been much, much better.

“It is a bit annoying. They scored very early in the second half and in the first half, which is sorting of killing the momentum a little bit, and the confidence as well.

“I think we played alright in the first half after we got the first goal, but it kills the game a little bit that they get the two goals [so soon after half-time]. But then again, we are playing at home and we need to do more.”
