Rasmus Højlund names former teammates who had “biggest influence” in his career
Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund has named the player he feels has had the biggest influence on his career so far.
Rasmus Højlund‘s first season at Manchester United was a mixed bag, with fantastic goals mixed in with bouts of inconsistent form.
Højlund ended the campaign as the club’s top scorer, having scored 16 across all competitions, including five in the Champions League. He also finished with an FA Cup to his name, performing well ahead of the 2024 European Championships.

Arriving as a 20-year-old, he was under a lot of pressure to perform. He showed fans the talent he possesses and why United decided to pay £72 million for him from Atalanta.
However, before he joined Atalanta, he played for Austrian club SK Sturm Graz for six months and named one of his teammates at the time as someone who had had the biggest influence on him so far.
“I used to play with an experienced striker called Jakob Jantscher,” Højlund told club media.
“He was very good to me and he wanted me to develop and be a great player. He just was very patient with me and he wanted me to succeed and feeding me.
“We just had a good understanding of each other’s game. I think we supplemented each other as well.”
Højlund and his Denmark compatriots will open their campaign with a tough fixture against Slovenia on Thursday before facing England in a huge clash the following Thursday.
They will round out the group stage with a fixture against Serbia five days later, on Tuesday. They will need to qualify in the top two of their group to reach the knockout stages.
