Rasmus Højlund’s brother explains what he “hopes” next from Manchester United striker
Oscar Højlund, brother of Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund, has explained what he hopes next from the current Manchester United top scorer this season.
After a slow start domestically, Rasmus Højlund has now started to continue his sparkling form that started in the Champions League by scoring in six Premier League fixtures in a row.
The Erik ten Hag signing became the youngest-ever player to do so when he netted against Luton Town last weekend, and the run started after Højlund scored a brilliant winning goal for Manchester United against Aston Villa.

“I saw his very first goal against Aston Villa. We were over there to celebrate Christmas,” Oscar Højlund told Danish magazine Tipsbladet.
“We were really excited and genuinely happy for him because it meant so much to him. We celebrated the goal as much as he did, so he was happy there.”
Continuing, Oscar explained that he and his family are incredibly proud of his brother Rasmus, and hopes that he can continue his good form.
“I watched the highlights after the Luton game as well. The family and I are incredibly proud. He had a bit of a tough start over there, and now he’s shown how mentally strong he is and bounced back. I hope he can continue.”
Højlund, of course, now lives in Manchester, while his family are still based in Denmark – Oscar, 19, himself plays as a midfielder for Copenhagen.
“We focus on our own things, but of course, we do everything we can to keep up with how each other is doing, and then we talk after the matches,” he continued.
“In fact, we talk daily as much as we can. We are quite close. We try to exchange a lot of things and ask how each other is doing. Then we also play a little PlayStation together, so it’s fine.
“I would say I’m the best at playing PlayStation.”
Oscar has also explained that due to his brother’s new-found prominence in football, he is getting a lot more attention.
“It has changed (the attention) because my name is Højlund, but again, I mind my own business. I don’t put much into it. It’s still the same focus I have. I want to become the best version of myself, and then we’ll see where it takes me.
“No, I’m not (tired of hearing about my brother). There’s a lot about him, and I’m happy for him.”
