As the quest for a cup treble continues, Manchester United make the increasingly regular trip to Spain in an attempt to book their place in the Europa League semi-final.

Juventus or Sporting CP will await the winner of this tie with Erik ten Hag doing his best to juggle his squad as Manchester United compete on three fronts entering the business end of the season.

In what could have been a routine, perhaps even comfortable second leg, United have made hard work for themselves as they so often do. A late collapse at Old Trafford last week saw United throw away a two-goal lead thanks to late own goals from Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire.

The tie hangs in the balance and whilst Sevilla have struggled in the league this season, there’s something about this competition that brings them to life… as United themselves have found out in the past.

Form will go out of the window this Thursday and the six-time winners will be confident in their chances of progressing. Here is the team news ahead of the crunch Europa League quarter-final second leg.

Manchester United

Erik ten Hag will be without key players Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane through injury, with the former being ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing successful surgery earlier this week.

Whilst the injuries have been mounting, the United boss will also be without Bruno Fernandes who is suspended after an accumulation of yellow cards.

Alejandro Garnacho and Scott McTominay remain sidelined but it’s not all bad news for The Reds. Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Marcel Sabitzer and Tyrell Malacia all trained with the squad on Wednesday and made the trip to Seville.

Thursday may come too soon for one or two of those to play from the start but there is hope they can play a part should they be needed.

Sevilla

The all-action Gonzalo Montiel will be unavailable after picking up a yellow card in last Thursday’s first leg which leaves him suspended.

Players such as Ivan Rakitic and Oliver Torres were rested for Sevilla’s 2-0 win against Valencia at the weekend, with José Luis Mendilibarm expected to field a similar line-up to the side that started at Old Trafford.

Top goalscorer, Youssef En-Nesyri could be in line to return to the starting eleven after being benched last week.
