Rashford, Mbeumo, tactical changes: Five key topics for Ruben Amorim’s first pre-season press conference as timing confirmed

Ruben Amorim will speak to the media for the first time this week before Manchester United’s clash against West Ham on Sunday.

After kicking off their pre-season earlier this month, Manchester United are now focused on delivering a strong showing during their tour of the United States ahead of the Premier League’s return next month.

New signings Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon, and Bryan Mbeumo have all linked up with the squad, having travelled with the team to the U.S. and arrived on Tuesday evening.

Ruben Amorim’s side are currently training at Chicago Fire’s facilities, putting in the groundwork ahead of upcoming friendlies against West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton.

Ahead of those games, Amorim is set to finally face the media once again in a press conference after a break from speaking in front of the microphone.

The United boss is due to talk to journalists on Friday, 25 July at 14:00 and UtdDistrict have noted five key topics he could be asked about.

New signings

Amorim has been able to welcome three new signings to his squad for this tour with Mbeumo joining Cunha and Leon at the club.

The latter two played against Leeds last weekend but this upcoming clash against The Hammers will be Mbeumo’s first taste of action in a United shirt.

The United boss will likely be asked about all three of them, how they are settling in and how he thinks they can impact the team heading into next season.

Rashford’s move to Barcelona

Marcus Rashford’s loan move to Barcelona was confirmed this week and it is well-known that the 27-year-old didn’t have a great relationship with Amorim.

The Portuguese boss will inevitably be asked for his thoughts on the move and overall situation, but he is likely to keep his cards close to his chest.

Tactical changes

While most of the chat during this press conference will likely be on individual players and transfers, Amorim could also be asked about his tactical approach and what he has learned during his first months in the Premier League.

Everyone knows that the United boss has a specific template and style he wants to coach but it could be interesting to hear if there’s any smaller tweaks that he’s planning to make.

Youngsters involved

There are several youngsters who have travelled to the United States and journalists will be keen to figure out Amorim’s thoughts on some of them.

Sekou Kone was originally set to go out on loan this season but is now expected to stay at Old Trafford. He is one player who the United head coach will likely be asked about.

Jack Fletcher is also on the tour and could be a topic of conversation after receiving praise from Bruno Fernandes on the flight Stateside.

Transfer hints

Of course, no pre-season press conference would be complete without some questions about potential transfers heading forward.

United and Amorim still want another striker and midfielder before deadline day but sales are crucial for these potential signings.

Still, Amorim will be quizzed on this topic multiple times during the press conference and it will be interesting to see how truthful he is when providing the answers.
