Raheem Sterling may well sign for Manchester United as a big transfer blow in Juventus’ pursuit of Jadon Sancho has been detailed.

The Reds are close to announcing their fifth signing of the summer transfer window, with Manuel Ugarte set for a medical at Carrington.

Meanwhile several exits are also expected to occur, with one of those potentially being Jadon Sancho.

According to Sky Sports, Juventus want to do a straight loan deal for the 24-year-old winger to replace Federico Chiesa despite United’s preference for a permanent sale.

The BBC further detailed that the Italian side is also unwilling to pay all of his wages on a straight loan deal, which makes little sense for United.

This coincides with reports that the Reds are considering a swap deal involving Sancho with Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling.

Sky Sports have added that the possibility of that move is now being “seriously considered”, but bringing Sterling into the club must make “financial sense”.

United are not under pressure to sell the 24-year-old, especially after receiving £25 million for Scott McTominay.

However, with the winger clearly out of favour, things could quickly align for a deal for Sterling and Sancho to swap clubs if both players lower their wage demands.

United’s sporting director, Dan Ashworth, has spoken to those at Chelsea about a potential deal, as per the Telegraph, but will only move forward on their own terms.

With several days left until the deadline, it looks like a swap deal is more likely unless a change in stance comes from Juventus.

Sterling coming to United would be strange since he has played for Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea – three of the club’s biggest rivals.

Speaking in 2019, Sterling said: “I shouldn’t really say this – not now, definitely not now – but when I was young, I was a massive Man United fan. I had an old United kit from when they won the last FA Cup. I was at the final in 2007.”

He has made 379 appearances in the Premier League across his career so far, scoring 123 and assisting 63 times.
