One Premier League starlet is set to complete his “dream” move to Manchester United and he is making a “step up”, according to an ex-Red.

Chido Obi-Martin was seen as Arsenal’s top academy prospect after scoring 32 goals in the Under-18s Premier League last season.

Despite this, he chose not to sign a scholarship deal with the Gunners and began considering other opportunities, including a visit to Manchester United’s Carrington training ground.

Several reports confirmed that he had agreed to join United in late July, with the chance of progressing to first-team football being a key reason for his decision.

The 16-year-old is currently waiting for the deal to be finalised through Premier League ratification, and former United defender Paul Parker believes that it is a ‘huge story’.

Parker has explained that the young talent is “ambitious” and that the move to Old Trafford will be a “dream” for him. He has also explained that the pathway to the first team is much more realistic than that at the Emirates stadium.

Finally, the 60-year-old claimed that the deal makes perfect sense and that it is a step up for Obi-Martin in every way.

“It is a huge story in England with Chido Obi-Martin. He’s an ambitious kid with very ambitious parents, and he also has a skilled agent who has secured him a dream move. I’m sure it will all be sorted out soon.” Parker told SpilXperten.

“If he does well, he will become a real option for the first team very quickly, and that would never happen under Arteta at Arsenal.

“They aren’t the type of club that gives young players a chance in the same way. The talent wouldn’t be developed, especially not under Arteta.

“Man United has always brought young players through. That is the main reason he is choosing Manchester United. There’s a real chance he could get minutes already in the current season, and he’ll be training more or less regularly with the first team.”

“Of course, money obviously plays a role. Of course, it does. He’s 16 years old, and no one knows how his career will end, so it’s also about striking while the iron is hot.

“He’s also moving to a bigger club now, so everything about the move just makes perfect sense. It’s a step up in every way. Man United is definitely the right choice for him.”
