Premier League star ‘sacked his agent’ after ‘dream’ Manchester United move fell through amid Benjamin Šeško transfer

One Premier League player has reportedly sacked his agent after failing to secure a dream move to Manchester United this summer.

Manchester United have finally secured their new first-choice striker after Benjamin Šeško’s move from RB Leipzig was confirmed on Saturday morning.

Rúben Amorim’s Reds have forked out £66.3 million for the Slovenian international, also agreeing to a further £7.4 million in add-ons, if certain conditions are met.

United have been hunting for a new striker all summer and had held talks with representatives of multiple other players, such as Liam Delap, Victor Osimhen, and Viktor Gyökeres.

However, with these three having secured moves elsewhere, United decided they wanted to sign Šeško, who is set to make his debut against Arsenal next weekend.

Calvert-Lewin sacks agent after transfer failures

Earlier this summer, when United’s striker targets were less apparent, the club considered dipping into the free agent market to secure a bargain deal and reallocate funds elsewhere.

One such name who continually cropped up in reports was Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has departed Premier League side Everton in search of a new club after his contract expired at the end of June.

According to The Sun, the English striker has viewed United as a “dream” move, but with Šeško through the door and United now focusing on other positions, the chance for him to move to Old Trafford is effectively moot.

Although the 28-year-old has received multiple offers, after Šeško signed for United, the striker has now fired his representatives and is aiming to secure his next move by representing himself, and still hopes to find a path to Old Trafford.

But, despite Rasmus Højlund potentially leaving the club on loan to AC Milan, United have no real need for extra firepower in attack, making Calvert-Lewin’s reported efforts to join the club will almost certainly be in vain.

United want a midfielder and goalkeeper amid sales

With Marcus Rashford the club’s only current major exit, United are focused on sales and have informed Højlund that he must leave this summer if he wants to play regular football.

United are currently in talks with Milan surrounding a loan transfer with a fee of around £5 million plus an option to buy for £35 million, which meets United’s £40 million valuation for the player.

They are also very much pushing to sell Alejandro Garnacho, with Chelsea having opened talks for the winger this week. These two sales could fetch United up to £90 million, with Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia still to sell.

As for possible incomings, the club are known to be very keen on signing Carlos Baleba from Brighton and continue to be in contact with the 21-year-old’s agents, but the South Coast club want upward of £100 million for the Cameroon international.

They are also set to engage in further talks with the representivies of Paris St. Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is available for £26 million but would likely demand a major salary package.
