Premier League select Everton vs Man Utd referee as suspension and three injuries confirmed

The Premier League has confirmed who will officiate Manchester United’s trip to face Everton in Liverpool on Monday evening.

Michael Carrick’s side have nearly two weeks to regroup after his first five matches in charge, stepping in following Rúben Amorim’s departure last month.

Manchester United have earned 13 points from a possible 15, recording impressive wins over Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur, before a 1–1 draw with West Ham United on Tuesday.

The draw in East London has slightly tempered the excitement, but United remain unbeaten in five, firmly in the top four, and in a strong position to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

When the break ends, Carrick will lead his team to Merseyside to face Everton, who have won two of their last five games and sit eighth in the Premier League.

Premier League confirm Everton vs United referee

Darren England (pictured above) will be the referee on Monday evening in Liverpool. Hooper has officiated 15 Premier League fixtures this season, as well as two in other domestic competitions and one in the Europa League.

England has officiated United just once this campaign, coming in the 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest when Rúben Amorim was still in charge.

This season, England has issued 58 yellow cards in the Premier League and 72 across all competitions. He has issued two reds card this season, both coming from two yellow cards, and has awarded five penalties, three coming in the Premier League.

During the game, Scott Ledger and Akil Howson will serve as England’s assistant referees. Adam Herczeg will be the fourth official on Monday evening, separating Carrick and David Moyes.

Paul Howard has been appointed as the Video Assistant Referee. Sian Massey-Ellis will act as assistant VAR.

Suspension and three injuries confirmed for the tie

Firstly, it has been confirmed that Toffies defender Jake O’Brien will miss the United fixture next week due to a red card suspension he received during a 2-1 defeat against Bournemouth in the previous matchweek.

At the same time, Everton’s only confirmed injury absence will be talisman Jack Grealish, who is set to miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury.

As for United, the club will be without Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu due to a hamstring problem, while Matthijs de Ligt isn’t targeting a return to action until next month as he recovers from multiple setbacks with a back injury.

Mason Mount could be available once again after Carrick provided a positive update on the midfielder this week, with a fresh set of news due to come on Friday from both camps during the pre-match press conferences.
