Premier League confirm Wolves vs Manchester United referee, three suspensions possible as ban confirmed

Three players are at risk of suspension as Manchester United travel to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Monday evening.

Manchester United head into one of their final away trips of 2025 as Rúben Amorim prepares his squad for a Monday night showdown with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Rob Edwards’ side have struggled badly this season and remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League standings, recording just two draws alongside ten defeats from their opening 14 matches.

Despite Wolves’ poor form, the mood around Old Trafford is far from positive following another disappointing outing on Thursday, when United were forced to settle for a 1–1 draw against 18th-placed West Ham.

With Amorim chasing Champions League qualification to steady the ship and protect his future at the club, the Molineux encounter has rapidly become a must-win test, with many viewing it as a potential turning point.

Premier League confirm officials for Wolves vs United

Michael Salisbury (pictured above) will be the referee on Monday evening in Wolverhampton. Salisbury has officiated five Premier League fixtures this season, two Carabao Cup fixtures, and three in the Championship.

Salisbury has not officiated United this season, but did so once last campaign, a 2-1 FA Cup win over Leicester City, with goals from Joshua Zirkzee and Harry Maguire getting the job done.

This season, Salisbury has issued 21 yellow cards in the Premier League and 36 across all competitions. He has issued one straight red card this season and awarded two penalties, one in the Premier League and one in the Championship.

During the game, Marc Perry and Nick Greenhalgh will serve as Salisbury’s assistant referees. Tom Bramall will be the fourth official on Monday evening, separating Amorim and Edwards.

Nick Hopton has been appointed as the Video Assistant Referee. Stuart Attwell will act as assistant VAR.

Three players at risk of suspension as ban confirmed

Following Wolves’ recent 1-0 loss against Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon, it was confirmed that United-linked midfielder Joao Gomes would miss the tie against Amorim’s side after picking up his fifth yellow card of the campaign.

However, three further stars are also at risk of being handed their own one-game bans due to yellow card collection. André, another Wolves midfielder also linked with Wolves, has four to his name.

For United, both Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu and Casemiro are sitting on four apiece, with the latter lucky not to be handed a fifth against West Ham.

Bryan Mbeumo, Bruno Fernandes, and Luke Shaw sit on two yellows each, while Benjamin Šeško, Ayden Heaven, and Noussair Mazraoui have one apiece.
