“Possibly next week…” – Ruben Amorim to make extremely important Manchester United change ‘very soon’

One former Manchester United player believes that Ruben Amorim is going to make an extremely important change next week.

Manchester United return to Old Trafford before the October international break as they prepare to meet Sunderland for the first time since April 2017.

Ruben Amorim’s side have struggled to find form, managing only two wins from their opening six Premier League games. They sit 14th in the table, just one spot higher than last season’s 15th-place finish.

In contrast, Sunderland have impressed since rejoining the top flight. Régis Le Bris has guided them to 11 points from six matches, leaving them fifth in the league.

After a 3-1 defeat at Brentford, the spotlight is firmly on Amorim to turn things around and ease the growing frustration among United fans.

Amorim to make extremely important United change

United’s poor form at the beginning of the season has partly been due to the goalkeeping errors made by Altay Bayındır.

Somehow, the backup goalkeeper to the underperforming André Onana last year has come out as the no.1 goalkeeper for the new season. He has cost his team goals in every game so far.

Even though Bayındır made a couple of good saves against Brentford, he was directly at fault for two of their three goals, and it feels like a matter of time until new signing Senne Lammens is tested.

Ex-United goalkeeper Tim Howard believes that Amorim is going to make the switch in goal ‘very soon’ due to Bayındır’s poor displays.

Speaking to NBC Sports, Howard was asked how much longer Bayindir has left as Manchester United’s first choice.

Howard responded: “Oh, not not much. Not much. He’s was shaky on set pieces. The goals, he gets a hand to them. If you get a hand to a goal, you should save it. I think we’re going to see a change very soon, possibly next week.”

Lammens needs to do the basics

Lammens has reportedly been impressing behind the scenes at Carrington but fans are still unaware of how good he actually is.

Realistically, the Belgian does not need to be the next Peter Schmeichel, but instead do the basics of goalkeeping well. That includes parrying the ball wide of the six-yard box.

United have scored a massive own goal with the ability of their last two goalkeeping signings, but there is hope that Lammens can stop that trend and bring stability to the position at Old Trafford.

He could finally get the chance to make his debut against Sunderland, and afterwards, it would be surprising if Bayındır made another appearance for the club.
