Player Ratings: Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Manchester United
Manchester United lost 2-0 against Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League encounter after Spurs turned on the heat in the second half.
Erik ten Hag’s side displayed an improved performance from their opener against Wolves in the first-half, however, they were ultimately punished for missed chances in the second half.
The player ratings for United can be read below.
Andre Onana – 7.5/10
Some very nice passes despite one being inches away from being intercepted. Long pass to Garnacho in the first half was superb and a couple decent saves. Couldn’t do anything about either goal.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka -7.5 /10
Going from strength to strength it seems. Probably one of United’s best players before being replaced.
Raphael Varane – 6/10
Dealt with Spurs attacks well in the first-half. Troubles in the second with constant transitions.
Lisandro Martinez – 5.5/10
Covered defensive transitions from the left very well. Couldn’t do much in the chaos of the second half. Unfortunate to guide the second into United’s net.
Luke Shaw – 5.5/10
Exposed defensively on the left a too many times. Did also play the best pass of the first half to set up Bruno, who should’ve scored.
Casemiro – 5/10
Another worrying display in the middle. The midfield balance isn’t quite there right now and Casemiro is getting more exposed. His inconsistent on-ball work isn’t helping either though.
Mason Mount – 5/10
Started well but failed to remain involved in the game as it went on.
Bruno Fernandes – 6/10
Some absolutely mesmerising passes throughout, even after it looked like he got a nasty injury. Somehow missed a sitter with his head though. Looked leggy and too rushed in the second, however.
Antony – 4.5/10
Despite almost equalising for United, he was not good enough on the right. Too wasteful in promising positions.
Marcus Rashford – 5/10
Not enough from the forward. A few moments of quality but he was not involved enough and did not press well from the centre.
Alejandro Garnacho – 5/10
Busy and better than last game. Better decisions and deserved to win United a penalty, however, VAR did not have the same opinion. Ultimately, naivety in defensive play led to the Spurs goal.
Substitutes
Jadon Sancho – 7/10
Looked good again off the bench. Should start next week.
Diogo Dalot – 6/10
Decent.
Christian Eriksen – 5/10
Almost cost a goal with an unfortunate slip.
Facundo Pellistri – 7/10
Sharp. Could’ve got a penalty. In for a shout to start next game.
Anthony Martial – 6/10
Decent.
