Manchester United won 2-1 against Sheffield United in the Premier League as Diogo Dalot’s stunner was the difference between the teams.

Scott McTominay appeared to save United’s blushes after a brilliant volley following an awful opening 25 minutes.

However, it was only minutes later when Erik ten Hag’s men conceded from the penalty spot after McTominay himself gave away a silly spot-kick after the ball hit his arm from a cross.

The second half involved more control from the visitors, and eventually Diogo Dalot scored the winner with a curling effort from outside the box.

The player ratings from the game can be read below:

Andre Onana – 7/10

Some decent saves throughout. Went the right way for the penalty but was brilliantly placed.

Diogo Dalot – 7.5/10

Average first half. Improved in the second and scored a brilliant winner.

Harry Maguire – 7.5/10

Won his battles in the air throughout and was one of few attempting to progress through the thirds. When he wasn’t, he was often finding success with long passes to the flanks.

Jonny Evans – 6/10

Decent but unable to progress properly.

Victor Lindelof – 5/10

Difficult night overall at left-back.

Sofyan Amrabat – 7/10

Poor first half. Much improved in the second, helping gain United control. Unlucky to not score a wonderstrike.

Scott McTominay – 5/10

Brilliant goal but gives a clear penalty at the other end. Not much else really before being replaced mid-way through the second half.

Bruno Fernandes – 4.5/10

Poor decision-making on the ball most of the night. Improved in the second half but didn’t look good enough.

Antony – 4/10

Too tame in the final third.

Rasmus Hojlund – 5/10

Little service overall. Close at the end of the first half but denied by a good save. Decent holdup work before coming off.

Marcus Rashford – 4/10

Not enough impact but looks largely affected by United’s lack of left-back going forward. Often double-teamed when he got the ball.

Substitutes

Christian Eriksen – 6.5/10

A decent display in midfield.

Alejandro Garnacho – 7/10

Helped wake United up with a positive display. Should’ve scored but overall a good cameo.

Anthony Martial – 6.5/10

Decent display.

Raphael Varane – 6/10

Helped the team get over the line.

Mason Mount – N/A
