Player Ratings: Real Sociedad 1-1 Manchester United (Europa League)
Manchester United drew 1-1 against Real Sociedad in the first-leg of their Europa League round-of-16 clash at the Reale Arena.
Ruben Amorim’s side were much the better side in the opening 70 minutes of the game and deserved their opening through Joshua Zirkzee.
However, United suffered another disappointing decision as VAR intervened for a penalty after Bruno Fernandes was judged to have handled the ball in the box.
Sociedad scored and then put pressure on United, who managed to keep the scores level heading into the second leg at Old Trafford next week.
United player ratings vs Sociedad
André Onana – 7/10
Some confident moments on the ball and also made some important saves, especially late on.
Leny Yoro – 6/10
A decent display.
Matthijs de Ligt – 7.5/10
Did very well in the middle of defence. An absolute crucial clearance after he slipped during a dangerous cross.
Noussair Mazraoui – 6.5/10
A solid performance on the left.
Diogo Dalot – 5/10
It’s the same story every game at the moment. Some sloppy errors, gets into good attacking positions but fails to deliver the right pass or cross for the most part. He did manage to put one good ball in and United came close to scoring.
Casemiro – 7.5/10
A solid performance and a nice pass in the buildup for the goal.
Bruno Fernandes – 6/10
Some really good forward passes, unfortunately conceded the penalty.
Patrick Dorgu – 6.5/10
Constantly offered on the overlap.
Alejandro Garnacho – 7/10
Offered some danger in the final third and got the assist for United’s goal.
Joshua Zirkzee – 8/10
A solid display, worked hard and scored an important goal.
Rasmus Højlund – 5/10
Looks better moving wide into the channels. His goalscoring drought doesn’t help when players like Dalot don’t make simple passes into the box for him. Quiet second half.
Substitutions
Christian Eriksen – 6/10
Victor Lindelöf – 6/10
Toby Collyer – 6/10
