Manchester United lost 2-1 against 10-man Newcastle in their Premier League clash at St James’ Park.
Manchester United had to defend against an energetic Newcastle side early on but grew into the game as the half went on.
After Jacob Ramsey was sent off for a second-booking for a dive, Newcastle opened the scoring from the penalty spot.
But United equalised on the turn of the half after Bruno Fernandes crossed to Casemiro, who headed home to score another goal this term.
Instead of taking charge of the clash in the second half, Michael Carrick’s side were very poor and conceded late on to lose their first game under the new boss.
The United player ratings can be read below.
United player ratings vs Newcastle

Some good claims. Couldn’t do much about either goal.
Noussair Mazraoui – 6/10
One of United’s better players until his injury.
Leny Yoro – 6/10
Decent.
Harry Maguire – 6/10
Done well in duels.
Luke Shaw – 5/10
OK display. Subbed early.

Caught on the ball twice by Joelinton but then a brilliant header to equalise. United did not get better when he came off.
Kobbie Mainoo – 4/10
Not good enough on the ball. Too safe.
Bryan Mbeumo – 4/10
Not very impactful.

United’s best player despite giving away the penalty. Created a lot of chances. One assist but probably should have had more.
Matheus Cunha – 7/10
Decent display on the left.
Benjamin Šeško – 5/10
Good link up play but didn’t get many chances.
