Player Ratings: Manchester United 1-0 Wolves (Premier League)
Manchester United won 1-0 in their Premier League fixture against Wolves at Old Trafford with Raphael Varane scoring the goal.
A wake up call for The Reds and the player ratings can be read below.
Andre Onana – 7.5/10
A solid first half with not much to do. Looked like he had the angles covered for both Wolves chances. Good saves in second half.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 8/10
Needs to be in understanding with Antony more on the press. Good on the ball, however, and came up clutch with the important assist.
Raphael Varane – 8/10
Looked like an important block to stop Wolves’ biggest chance. Scored the winning goal with a header and an equally impressive celebration to follow.
Lisandro Martinez – 6/10
A poor challenge and rightly carded. Decent otherwise until he was replaced.
Luke Shaw – 7/10
Solid performance. Good run to receive from Rashford in the box in the first half.
Casemiro – 6/10
Some great moments but also silly to slide in early and gift a counter attacking chance for Wolves midway through the half. Just looked half a yard off it for most of the evening.
Mason Mount – 5/10
Poor debut overall. He was not involved enough.
Bruno Fernandes – 6/10
Some very nice moments on occasion but overall he was not helping his side. Very wasteful.
Antony – 7.5/10
Probably United’s brightest spark in attack until replaced. Won possession multiple times in dangerous positions but decision making on the ball still suspect.
Marcus Rashford – 7/10
Isolated for the most part. Some good moments but can tell he’s more comfortable from wide in these games.
Alejandro Garnacho – 5/10
Poor. A little too predictable in his movements with the ball. Needs to adjust his game slightly when starting.
Substitutes
Victor Lindelöf – 7/10
Decent display.
Jadon Sancho – 7/10
A positive cameo. Involved a lot and some good attacking actions.
Christian Eriksen – 5/10
Was not too involved despite the second half substitution while needing a goal. Miss placed a few passes.
Facundo Pellistri – 7/10
A slight surprise when he was substituted on due to his previous lack on minutes, but was positive and forward whenever he had the ball.
Scott McTominay – 6.5/10
Did his job stabilising the defensive line when needed, but nothing much extra beyond that.
