Manchester United lost 1-0 against Crystal Palace in their Premier League encounter at Old Trafford.

Defender Joachim Andersen scored the only goal of the game in the first half after United gave away a needless free-kick after dominating the opening exchanges.

Erik ten Hag’s side failed to bounce back in the second half although they were unsurprisingly denied a clear penalty mid-way through the second half. Ultimately, however, they were not good enough to win the game.

The player ratings can be read below:

Andre Onana – 5/10

Not very busy barring the goal, which he couldn’t do much about.

Diogo Dalot – 7/10

One of United’s best players. Great in all areas of the pitch.

Raphael Varane – 6/10

Decent performance.

Victor Lindelof – 4/10

Struggled to progress all afternoon. Poor.

Sofyan Amrabat – 5.5/10

Solid mostly. Unfortunate to concede the foul leading to the goal but a few other fouls too.

Casemiro – 4/10

Gifted Palace possession several times in the build-up to their opener. Been below-par on the ball all half. Close to scoring on a couple of occasions. Better second half but not comparable to last season.

Mason Mount – 6.5/10

Was involved in most of United’s good moves going forward. Keeps things ticking with one and two-touch football. Quieter second half and eventually replaced.

Bruno Fernandes – 5.5/10

Close to creating several good chances but inches away, like with the disguised pass to Pellistri. Just did not come off on the day with Johnson saving his shot in the top corner mid-way through the second half.

Facundo Pellistri – 5/10

Quiet first half and a little more involved in the second. Replaced.

Rasmus Hojlund – 5.5/10

Unlucky that his lobbed effort was cleared off the line early on. Decent stuff but not quite coming off yet.

Marcus Rashford – 4/10

Poor decisions dictated his game. Getting into dangerous areas but looking unsure on what to do.

Substitutes

Alejandro Garnacho – 6/10
