Player Ratings: Manchester United 1-3 Brighton (Premier League)

Manchester United lost 1-3 against Brighton in their Premier League clash at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim’s men went behind within five minutes after they were caught out at the back and an over-the-top through-ball from Brighton unlocked the defence.

However, United responded well and got a deserved goal from a penalty as Bruno Fernandes dispatched the spot kick after Joshua Zirkzee was fouled inside the box.

Yet, the Reds just couldn’t kick on and Brighton controlled the game in the second half and got a deserved goal to take the lead.

Despite some pressure, a mistake from André Onana allowed the visitors to score a third and kill the game off.

André Onana – 2/10

Horrible mistake for the third goal which finished off the game.

Matthijs de Ligt – 5/10

An average display.

Harry Maguire – 5/10

A couple of shaky moments in the second half.

Leny Yoro – 5/10

Didn’t do too much wrong.

Noussair Mazraoui – 3/10

He played OK for the most part but really poor defending for the first two Brighton goals.

Manuel Ugarte – 4/10

He doesn’t look like he can keep running everywhere now. Caught out on several occasions.

Kobbie Mainoo – 4/10

Not a great performance.

Diogo Dalot – 4/10

It feels pointless giving him the opportunity to receive the ball in dangerous positions regularly when he can never do anything with the ball. OK defending.

Amad – 7/10

Giving him the ball more should be the biggest tactical instruction given to United players. Every time he received the ball it felt like he could make something happen but it rarely went out to him.

Bruno Fernandes – 5/10

Took his penalty very well and played a couple of good crosses into the box but pretty underwhelming otherwise.

Joshua Zirkzee – 6.5/10

A decent display, better hold-up but overplayed in some moments. Despite the result he probably deserves to start next game.
