Player Ratings: Manchester United vs Brentford (Premier League)
Manchester United won 2-1 against Brentford at Old Trafford as Scott McTominay’s injury-time heroics saved Erik ten Hag’s men from defeat.
The Reds went down 1-0 in the first-half after an embarrassing moment of defending from several United men.
Erik ten Hag’s side would go on to dominate the majority of proceedings, however, it did not appear like they would carve Brentford open.
Yet, two strikes in added time from Scott McTominay, who was subbed on in the 87th minute, allowed United to enjoy a stunning 2-1 win.
The full player ratings can be viewed below.
Andre Onana – 4.5/10
Should’ve saved the effort for the goal. Two solid saves in the second half.
Diogo Dalot – 7.5/10
Very decent performance. He has been consistent this season, barring his mistake in mid-week.
Harry Maguire – 8/10
Solid display and even got the game-winning assist. Should be starting when United return after the international break.
Jonny Evans – 7/10
Similar to Maguire. A very good display and some nice pinged passes wide throughout too.
Victor Lindelof – 4.5/10
Terrible mistake for the goal. He didn’t look comfortable all night and might have an injury after he was subbed and went straight down the tunnel.
Casemiro – 4/10
The first of three mistakes for the goal came from an awful pass from the Brazilian. Then he lost a duel in the box afterwards. He was bad on the ball all first half and was replaced at the break.
Sofyan Amrabat – 6.5/10
The midfielder has a mixed game in the opening half but looked much better in the second as the lone pivot.
Mason Mount – 6/10
A decent overall performance but probably couldn’t complain about coming off.
Bruno Fernandes – 6/10
A poor first-half performance at right-wing. Moved centrally second half and improved but still wasn’t a difference maker like you’d want him to be.
Rasmus Hojlund – 6.5/10
Limited service. Some good moments of holdup play to help United progress. A couple of snapshots went close.
Marcus Rashford – 6/10
He was perhaps United’s only spark in attack early on and looked like he could make things happen with passes or dribbles into the box. However, Ten Hag’s call to replace him midway through the second half paid dividends.
Substitutes
Christian Eriksen – 6/10
A decent performance.
Alejandro Garnacho – 8/10
Great cameo with energy and purpose. Crucial in the equalising goal.
Antony – 6.5/10
A decent showing too. Solid defensively and some moments which didn’t quite come off going forward.
Anthony Martial – 6/10
Similar to Antony. Decent but things didn’t really come off.
Scott McTominay – 10/10
I mean, there’s no other option really. A jaw-dropping cameo to save Ten Hag and United from defeat. Two very good finishes too.
