Manchester United are out of Europe after losing 1-0 against Bayern Munich in their final Champions League group-stage match.

The Reds looked improved against a Bayern Munich side that were cruising at the top of the Champions League group and never really had to leave second gear.

Erik ten Hag’s side were unable to create any real chances as they limbed out of all European competitions.

The player ratings can be read below.

Andre Onana – 6/10

A solid performance. Couldn’t do anything about the goal.

Diogo Dalot – 7/10

Some really solid progressive work to help United move through the thirds in the first-half. Less influential when moved to the left in the second.

Harry Maguire – 8/10

Was having another excellent game up until he looked to pull his groin. So disappointing for him and United.

Raphael Varane – 7.5/10

A good game overall, especially when you consider it was his first start for a good while.

Luke Shaw – 6/10

A decent cameo but looked vulnerable defensively and subbed at half-time, with a potential injury problem.

Sofyan Amrabat – 7/10

Got more help from his midfield partners in and out of possession and looked much more comfortable. Sniffed out some danger at important moments and was unfortunate that his attempted interception ricocheted back to the visitors before the goal.

Scott McTominay – 5/10

OK performance. Didn’t make much of an impact going forward, pressed well and some other decent moments.

Bruno Fernandes – 5/10

Dropped deeper at times to aid the team in possession. Better decisions but must do better when a chance falls to him on the edge of the box.

Antony – 5/10

Just more of the same. Good moments but not quick enough or strong enough to excel, especially against someone like Alphonso Davies.

Rasmus Hojlund – 5/10

Tried to battle the defenders a little too much. Crucial to United’s press but another frustrating night with minimal chances to feed on.

Alejandro Garnacho – 5/10

Needed to use the overlapping full-back more. A little stuck one-on-one and looked slightly dead on his feet before coming off. Playing a lot of football and working very hard.

Subs

Jonny Evans – 6/10

Decent overall.

Hannibal Mejbri – 5/10

OK

Facundo Pellistri – 5/10

Not much from him.

Kobbie Mainoo – 7.5/10

Showed why he needs to start again.
