Manchester United lost 1-0 against Arsenal in their first Premier League clash of the season at Old Trafford.
Manchester United were the much better team over the game but lost the encounter after Riccardo Calafiori scored a header.
It was a terrible mistake from Altay Bayındır between the sticks, who was chosen to start with André Onana still not fully fit.
Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha were the standouts for United, and the latter should have won a penalty but there was more disgraceful officiating in the new season.
The United player ratings can be read below.
United player ratings vs Arsenal
Altay Bayındır – 3/10
Shocking for the goal. Somehow the only goalkeeper that can make you miss Andre Onana.
Leny Yoro – 8/10
Strong in the tackle. Brilliant all afternoon.
Matthijs de Ligt – 8/10
Dealt with Gyokeres expertly.
Luke Shaw – 8/10
Really aggressive.
Diogo Dalot – 6/10
Done well to offer on the overlap to Mbeumo.
Casemiro – 6/10
Very quiet early on but grew into the game.
Bruno Fernandes – 6/10
Some poor moments deeper and didn’t really stand out too much, which may be a positive.
Patrick Dorgu – 7/10
So close to scoring a brilliant goal, with his long-range shot smashing the post. Decent showing.
Bryan Mbeumo – 8.5/10
United’s most dangerous player in the opening 60 minutes. He went a little quiet late on but there are great signs.
Mason Mount – 7/10
Some good passes and pressing. Solid display.
Matheus Cunha – 8.5/10
An absolutely incredible run just after 30 minutes. Two solid efforts on goal afterwards. Brilliant in the second half but has to read up on the new Premier League rules. You are now allowed to swipe out someone’s ankles.
Substitutes
Amad – 8/10
Manuel Ugarte – 1/10
Benjamin Šeško – 6/10
Harry Maguire – 6/10
