Manchester United won 5-2 against Leicester City in their Carabao Cup clash at Old Trafford as they progressed into the quarter-final of the competition.

Ruud van Nistelrooy led Manchester United into the game as interim manager but had limited time to make any significant influence on the team.

Nevertheless, United looked much better in the attacking area, with five goals scored against Premier League opposition for the first time since August 2021.

Despite a couple of sloppy goals conceded in the first-half, the team put in a solid display worthy of progressing to the next round.

The United player ratings in this Carabao Cup clash can be viewed below.

Man Utd player ratings vs Leicester City

Altay Bayındır – 6.5/10

A poor punch before Leicester’s goal but a tremendous save midway through the second half.

Diogo Dalot – 7/10

Really busy throughout and a good assist for Garnacho.

Matthijs de Ligt – 7/10

A solid display.

Victor Lindelöf – 6.5/10

A couple difficult moments but decent overall.

Really strong on the ball, comfortable showing.

Excellent game. Scored two, made some important defensive contributions and played some delightful passes throughout.

Manuel Ugarte – 7.5/10

A really solid game. 90 minutes under his belt. Good stuff.

Marcus Rashford – 6/10

Some decent moments but nothing special. Brought off midway through the second half.

Alejandro Garnacho – 8.5/10

Looked really sharp, a good goal and slightly fortunate assist due to Casemiro’s sublime finish.

Bruno Fernandes – 7/10

Will be thankful to Justin for guiding his free-kick in but then showed his class with the second goal, taking the ball around the keeper and smashing it into the back of the net.

Joshua Zirkzee – 5/10

A difficult first half for the Dutchman. Not much went right for him. Slightly improved in the second half but still looks like he needs to get used to the intensity.
