The United player ratings from the game can be read below:

David De Gea – 8/10

His all-around game has improved this season and it was evident again today – especially his distribution. Nice ball to find Eriksen in space which led to a good chance for Fernandes in the first half. Should have done better with a couple of high crosses but ultimately didn’t have too much to do. Another clean sheet edges him closer towards the Golden Glove.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 7/10

Good block on the line after a scramble in the box on the five-minute mark. Great as usual 1v1. His resurgence under Erik ten Hag continues.

Victor Lindelof – 7/10

A solid return to the team for the Swede who hardly put a foot wrong.

Harry Maguire – 5/10

Bag of nerves in the first half. Got a routine booking when caught too high up the pitch within the first three minutes. Looked shaky from the first whistle which wasn’t helped when he played what should have been a simple pass straight to the advertising boards.

He was lucky to escape giving away a penalty after handling the ball from a Forest corner. Settled as the game progressed but was fortunate that the Forest attack didn’t ask too many questions in the second half.

Diogo Dalot – 7.5/10

Found himself in unfamiliar territory at left-back due to the absence of both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. He was fortunate that a heavy touch which rolled straight into Awoniyi’s path wasn’t punished. Fantastic run and finish to score his first Premier League goal to wrap up the game.

Casemiro – 6/10

Not his usual all-action display although he played a great cross for Martial who should have done better. A couple of sloppy moments and looked a little leggy. No cards and no suspensions so it’s not all bad news.

Christian Eriksen – 9/10

Conducted the midfield alongside Bruno Fernandes. A late inclusion after Marcel Sabitzer withdrew from the warm-up with a groin injury. Very tidy in possession which United have missed in his absence. Created a great chance for Bruno Fernandes on the stroke of half-time who perhaps should have done better with his header.

Further chances created for both Bruno and Sancho in the second half underlined his attacking performance but he also impressed out of possession. Joint man of the match with Bruno Fernandes.

Bruno Fernandes – 9/10

Seemingly involved in everything good United did going forward. Created two good openings within the first 10 minutes for Jadon Sancho which the United attacker couldn’t capitalise on.

Forced a good save from Navas early on and was pivotal in the goal after sliding through Martial whose effort was parried to Antony. Extremely unlucky when a second-half effort was tipped onto the bar after a well-worked corner routine with Eriksen.

Antony – 8/10

Did well to follow up on Martial’s effort to put United 1-0 up. A lively performance from the Brazilian and had a couple of good efforts in an attempt to double his tally in the second half.

Unbelievable run and pass to create the goal for Diogo Dalot which secured the points. Perhaps his best performance in a United shirt so far.

Anthony Martial – 7/10

He was the reason for the opening goal. Won the ball back and made a smart run in behind which Bruno found. Unlucky not to score himself as his effort fell to Antony to give The Reds the lead. Struggled to get involved in much of the game but his on-ball quality was evident most of the time when he did.

Taken off with 20 minutes remaining, seconds after he should have doubled United’s lead but headed wide.

Jadon Sancho – 6/10

Another frustrating afternoon for Sancho who can’t quite find the spark to light his United career. Spurned a great chance early on with the goal at his mercy when Keylor Navas parried the ball into his path. Looks to be lacking confidence – especially in front of the goal.

Substitutes

Wout Weghorst – N/A

Came on for Martial with 20 minutes left on the clock. Didn’t have much of an impact on the game which some may say describes his entire loan spell. Booked in stoppage time.

Fred – N/A

Subbed on for the brilliant Eriksen just before the 80-minute mark to see the game out.
