Player Ratings: Arsenal vs Manchester United (FA Cup Third-Round)
Manchester United won on penalties against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in their FA Cup third-round clash.
The Reds scored the opener early in the second half after Bruno Fernandes finished off a good move with a beautiful finish.
However, the game flipped on its head after Andy Madley sent off Diogo Dalot, with Arsenal scoring an equaliser shortly afterwards.
The referee then awarded Arsenal a penalty after Kai Havertz dived under minimal contact from Harry Maguire in the box.
Altay Bayindir ended up saving the spot kick and United fought hard for 120 minutes until penalties came up.
The Turkish goalkeeper ended up saving the only penalty against Havertz to put United into the next round of the FA Cup, with all five United players scoring.
The player ratings can be read below.
United player ratings vs Arsenal in FA Cup
Altay Bayındır – 9/10
Despite some poor distribution and a questionable moment for Arsenal’s goal, he became the star man, saving two penalties and some other important stops.
Matthijs de Ligt – 8.5/10
Started slightly slowly but became integral to the win, with some absolutely unbelievable blocks late on.
Harry Maguire – 8.5/10
Absolutely dominant in the air throughout the game and did everything right, including calling Kai Havertz a “cheating scumbag”.
Lisandro Martínez – 8/10
A resolute performance and fought until the end despite seeming to carry a knock. Slotted away his penalty too.
Noussair Mazraoui – 8/10
Worked so hard for 120 minutes. Great effort.
Manuel Ugarte – 8/10
Another important performance in the middle. Never stopped running.
Kobbie Mainoo – 7/10
Worked very hard out of possession and helped the team with some sparks creatively.
Diogo Dalot – 2/10
Very silly to go into the challenge with a booking when he was sent off.
Alejandro Garnacho – 6/10
Struggled to impact the game much but helped defensively when United went down to 10 men.
Bruno Fernandes – 8.5/10
Unbelievable performance. Worked tirelessly and scored a great goal. Put his penalty away with confidence too.
Rasmus Højlund – 5/10
Didn’t offer enough. The ball did not stick when United played forward to him.
