Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has praised two Reds after the 2-0 win against Everton despite there being a ‘worry’ for Erik ten Hag.

It was domination from the hosts, who won yet another fixture at Old Trafford. Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial scored the goals whilst United’s defensive unit kept their 23rd clean sheet of the season.

Harry Maguire came into the side for Raphael Varane, who was afforded valuable rest ahead of the Europa League clash against Sevilla on Thursday.

The skipper was able to produce a solid performance alongside Lisandro Martinez as he dealt with any offensive threat from The Toffies and contributed well in possession.

Next to him was Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who missed the last two games through illness. The right-back has had an excellent few months and continued in that vein against Sean Dyche’s side.

“It was good, three points, clean sheet, lots of positives, Maguire and Wan-Bissaka coming in and playing really well,” stated Schmeichel on Premier League Productions.

However, United fans were concerned to see Marcus Rashford limp towards the tunnel after being forced off. He suffered an injury when stretching as he attempted to control the ball down.

The 25-year-old forward has scored 28 goals for The Reds this term and assisted Martial’s goal on Saturday as he made his 350th appearance for the club.

His goals are important and Schmeichel believes United’s lack of conviction in front of goal against Everton could be a concern for Ten Hag.

“The negative thing is the injury to Rashford but also, a lot of missed chances,” he continued. “I’m looking ahead and thinking ‘should we need 29 chances to score two goals?’ One of them came from a big mistake from Everton too, so that’s a bit of a worry.”
