Peter Schmeichel sends Erik ten Hag message amid latest Sky Sports update
Peter Schmeichel has sent Erik ten Hag a message of support as Sky Sports issues the latest on the Manchester United manager’s job position.
Manchester United are currently languishing in 14th place in the Premier League, with a string of poor results sparking growing calls for Erik ten Hag to be sacked as manager.
Out of their last six matches, United have only secured two wins— a dominant 7-0 demolition of League One side Barnsley and a 3-0 victory over Southampton, a match that could have taken a different turn had André Onana not produced a crucial penalty save.

Frustrating draws against FC Twente and FC Porto, along with heavy 3-0 home defeats to both Liverpool and Tottenham, have cast further doubt on Ten Hag’s ability to lead the club. However, a recent draw with Aston Villa has given the manager some temporary breathing room.
Speaking on the Seaman Says podcast, former United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, widely considered one of the greatest shot stoppers of all time, has issued a message of support to the under-fire Ten Hag.
“Erik ten Hag is still the manager, and I will support him because I want the club to do well. I don’t want United to be the club that changes the manager all the time.
“I hope they stick with Erik because we need consistency now. Let him have a fair go at this.
“He’s been hampered by a lot of things over the last two years, now he’s got his own players, let him show us what the plan is and what he can do with the football club. If that doesn’t work then maybe then we talk about a change.”
Meanwhile, Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has now delivered the latest surrounding the club following a meeting of the club’s executives in London on Tuesday.
“We haven’t had any indication that a decision has been taken to change managers at Manchester United,” he said on Tuesday evening.
Having said that, this was a very long meeting. It started this morning just after 10 o’clock, and it went on until a few minutes ago (after 5pm).
“I think we should stress that this was a routine executive committee meeting for Manchester United – they have one of these meetings every month. But, of course, today, one thing that would’ve been discussed – which is also normally discussed during the season – is first-team performances.
“Of course, there is a general feeling that some of the performances haven’t been good enough. I’m thinking specifically of the defeats to Tottenham [Hotspur] and Liverpool, and the executives at Man United want to get to the bottom of what is going wrong.
“Obviously, they’re aware of all the discussions and speculation outside that maybe now is the right time to part company with Erik ten Hag, especially because we’ve entered an international break, but there is no indication so far from this meeting that any kind of decision has been made.”
