Pep Guardiola will make Man City lineup decision following latest Man United injury update
Pep Guardiola and his staff at Manchester City will be paying attention to latest reports that state Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka will not be fit for the Manchester derby.
That information comes from the Daily Mail, where it is said that whilst Wan-Bissaka has returned to on-the-pitch training, the big match at Old Trafford may be deemed too risky of a return given the intensity of the fixture.
It was added that if his rehabilitation goes to plan in the final stages, he could be available for Erik ten Hag in the next 10 days.
With the 25-year-old defender essentially ruled out of a return in this game, it’s incredibly likely that Diogo Dalot will continue from the right side of defence.
He scored the winning goal during United’s last Premier League fixture and has been one of few players at Old Trafford in impressive form.
However, those at Manchester City, and particularly manager Guardiola, could be making one clear decision when choosing his lineup now.
On the left wing, The Citizens have been rotating between Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and new signing Jérémy Doku. The aforementioned two will often utilise their ball-playing manipulation abilities to excel, whilst Doku is much more direct and threatening one-versus-one.
If Wan-Bissaka was to return, Guardiola would perhaps look to utilise Grealish or Foden in order to pass around the defender who is known for his excellent abilities in one-versus-one defending.
Instead, with Dalot less capable in that aspect, the City manager could be looking to test him with Doku starting on the left.
The Belgian wideman has impressed widely during his short career at the Etihad Stadium so far, scoring twice and getting as many assists in nine appearances.
