Paul Scholes says Manchester United star passed Ruben Amorim ‘audition’ vs PAOK

Paul Scholes has said that one Manchester United player passed Ruben Amorim’s ‘audition’ in the Europa League win against PAOK.
Manchester United won 2-0 against Greek side PAOK in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
After an underwhelming first half display from the team, Amad Diallo provided the magical touch in front of goal to score twice for United.
It was the club’s first win in European football for over a year but the performance wasn’t much to build on barring the performance from a few individuals, including Amad.
Ruben Amorim, who takes over at Old Trafford next week, will be looking at the team and thinking that he has a big job on his hands.
However, Paul Scholes also suggests that the new head coach may look at playing Amad in one of the roles behind the striker in his 3-4-3 system.
Those two players are almost like no.10s, playing in between the centre of the pitch and the wing. Many have suggested that it is a role that would suit Amad.
Speaking at half-time on Thursday, Scholes told TNT Sports: “I think it’s almost like an audition for him [Amad], almost in that no.10 role. It looks like he’s been playing mostly… he has been wide a little bit.
“I think out of a quiet bunch, he has probably been the best of them.”
“Yeah, I’d have to agree,” Karen Carney added. “You just wanted energy and I think that’s what he gave in the first 20 minutes. He was a little bit quiet towards the back end [of the half].”
That overall trend continued in the second half, with Amad being the clear standout for United and Amorim will certainly be thinking about the 22-year-old in that position.
Right now, Amad has essentially guaranteed his position in the team for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s final game in charge against Leicester City on the weekend.
