Paul Scholes criticises Man United player despite 4-1 win vs Real Betis in Europa League
Paul Scholes was critical of David de Gea during Manchester United’s 4-1 win against Real Betis on Thursday in the Europa League.
Erik ten Hag’s men showed a positive reaction to their woes at Anfield against Liverpool on the weekend.
Goals from Marcus Rashford, Antony, Bruno Fernandes and Wout Weghorst give United a strong chance of progressing to the quarter-finals.
However, when at 1-1 in the first-team, De Gea almost allowed the Spanish side to take the lead after a very poor pass out of the back.
He looked to play in between the Betis forwards but passed the ball straight to Betis’ advancing midfielder on their right side.

Luckily, it did not end with a goal, but the pass was one of many that the goalkeeper misplaced.
Scholes was critical of his former teammate and admitted that his ability with his feet is not a strong point in his game.
“David isn’t the best footballer let me put it that way, a very strange pass,” said Scholes on BT Sport.
Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes earned himself personal redemption after receiving lots of criticism following the weekend. He scored once and also assisted Antony’s impressive strike.
Scholes believes that Ten Hag should stop experimenting with the midfielder’s position.
“I thought get was brilliant in the centre of the pitch. I hope we never see him in any wide area again on a football pitch,” added Scholes.
“He was so good, dictating play.”
Owen Hargreaves was in agreement, saying: “He was brilliant today. The best player on the pitch.”
