Paul Pogba addresses Manchester United reunion chances after his doping ban is reduced
Former French star Paul Pogba has opened up about a potential return to Manchester United following his four-year doping ban reduction.
Paul Pogba left Manchester United in 2022 after his six-year contract expired, which he signed following his record-breaking £89 million transfer from Juventus, making him the world’s most expensive player at the time.
The French international started off strongly, helping United win two trophies in his debut season under José Mourinho. However, his relationship with Mourinho deteriorated over time.

After Mourinho’s departure, Pogba rediscovered his form under Ole Gunnar Solskjær but struggled with recurring injuries during the latter part of his stay at Old Trafford.
Pogba’s time at the club was often overshadowed by controversy, with critics accusing him of not taking football seriously. In reality, he was a flamboyant player known for moments of brilliance, but his inconsistent performances were scrutinised more harshly due to the hefty fee United had paid for him.
While at Juventus, Pogba was served with a four-year doping ban after taking supplements that contained prohibited chemicals, but in recent weeks, this ban was reduced to 18 months.
Did Pogba miss Man United?
Speaking to Sky Sports, Pogba was asked if he missed Manchester United during his period away from football, to which he admitted that he has not thought about the club in that way due to more pressing matters in his life.
“Truly, I had so many problems. I did not have time to think of Manchester United. I needed to get rid of all my problems and play.
“I watch Manchester United and I still have team-mates there. They are still one of the biggest clubs in the world but I wasn’t thinking about more stuff.”
Asked on his opinion on the current state at United, he said: “I will never destroy the club I played with. I respect all the players there and they are doing their best. There is a lot of media on Manchester United and they need time.
“Arsenal had a long time to get back to the top and now they are dominating the league with Man City and Liverpool. It’s a big club and I believe they will come back one day. The reality is, they are not at the top and it is not today.”
Would he return to Old Trafford?
Pogba was questioned about his future, and he explained that his main focus was on returning to the pitch with Juventus but that he would not rule out a move to the Premier League.
“Where would I like to play? On the pitch! I would love to be on the pitch! Any pitch. First, Juventus, I want to start training with teammates. It’s tough training alone – it passes by yourself! The main focus is to get back training and fit, to be on the pitch and do what I love.”
On a Premier League return, he said: “First of all, I am at Juventus under contract. I will see what they are thinking and the vision. My vision is to show I am a footballer. A new Paul Pogba with the same qualities. I am still ready.”
From these words, it does not sound like a return to Old Trafford would be likely, but in football, never rule any script out, especially at Manchester United.
