Patrick Dorgu has sent a powerful message to one Manchester United legend after he scored in the 2-0 win over rivals Manchester City.
Manchester United produced a dominant display in the Manchester derby on Saturday afternoon and collected a deserved three points in Michael Carrick’s first game in charge.
Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring in the second half and Patrick Dorgu added another goal to make it 2-0. The Reds also scored three more goals in the clash but they were all ruled out for tight offsides.
Dorgu, who has struggled at times since joining the club last January, was one of the best players on the pitch against Pep Guardiola’s side.
The 21-year-old played as the left winger and was a constant danger in transition while also being solid defensively when City were in possession.
Dorgu sends powerful 9-word message to United legend
Dorgu’s physical strengths have been obvious since he joined the club and that is something that you need at a top club.
But he has been showing development in the technical aspects of his game and the consistency in possession of the ball.
Patrice Evra was very pleased with the youngster’s display against City and posted an Instagram story of Dorgu, with the caption, “Proud of you”.
Dorgu responded to the United legend with the perfect message. “Thank you bro, trying to follow in your footsteps,” he wrote.

Evra is one of United’s best-ever left-backs and even though Dorgu played on the wing on the weekend, it seems like his long-term position in a back-four formation is on the left side of the defence.
Dorgu must continue improving
Dorgu has been overly-criticised during his time at United so far. He came in as a 20-year-old with no experience of the Premier League.
It is not his fault that he has needed to start so many games in a poor United side but he has shown that he has the right tools to be a successful signing at Old Trafford.
His goal against City was a brilliant moment and he will be aiming to continue producing in the final third going forward under Carrick.
Just like the team, he cannot get carried away and has to keep working to improve and make the most of the rest of this season.
