Manchester United star Patrick Dorgu has sent a message following his impressive form and unfortunate injury.
Since Michael Carrick’s arrival, Manchester United have enjoyed an excellent run of form, with the Reds claiming impressive victories over both Arsenal and Manchester City.
Now sitting fourth in the Premier League, United have reverted to a more traditional 4-2-3-1 system, a change that has breathed new life into Patrick Dorgu’s game.
The Danish wing-back has been deployed further up the pitch in recent weeks, operating more as an out-and-out winger. That tactical shift has paid dividends, with Dorgu scoring in consecutive matches, including a stunning strike at the Emirates on Sunday.
However, the young United star has since suffered a hamstring injury, ruling him out for an extended period and dealing a blow to his recent momentum.
Dorgu sends message after injury interrupted ‘immense’ form
Some reports have claimed that Dorgu could miss up to 10 weeks with injury, which would see him absent for at least eight games of United’s remaining 15 games.
It is a shame for a player who was just entering his best form. In fact, Dorgu was awarded the Premier League Player of the Matchweek for his performance at the Emirates Stadium.
Following on from the announcement, Dorgu shared the post on his Instagram story. He was nominated alongside Martin Dúbravka, Estêvão, Mateus Fernandes, Emiliano Martínez and Antoine Semenyo.

Speaking on the Dane’s form after the win over Arsenal, Carrick said: “Pat’s been a big player for us, obviously he’s scored two goals but in terms of the threat and athleticism and quality, he’s been immense down the side with Luke against two teams that ask a lot of questions.
“I am delighted for him because the two goals he’s scored are very different goals. It’s nice to see him smiling and happy.”
Shaw is more important now
Fortunately, United have depth in attack and Dorgu’s absence will not be too destabilising for the team. On the other hand, one player is now extremely important.
Dorgu might have been playing on the left wing but he was also the only natural replacement for Luke Shaw at left-back.
Shaw is now the only available left-back and he cannot afford to get injured while Dorgu is out of action. The Englishman has not suffered an injury so far this term and hopefully that continues.
While the likes of Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui can play from that side if needed, it is clear that they are not as good when operating from the left and that means Shaw’s performance and fitness are even more important.
