Patrick Dorgu has been speaking about his form at Manchester United and detailed one of his biggest strengths that is needed in the Premier League.
Manchester United produced an authoritative performance at Old Trafford, securing a 2–0 Premier League victory over Manchester City.
From the opening whistle to the final moments, Michael Carrick’s side controlled proceedings, combining defensive organisation with a sharp attacking edge. United actually scored five times, but three efforts were ruled out after tight offside calls.
Undeterred, goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu wrapped up a crucial win that was fully deserved for Carrick’s team.
Dorgu’s strike continued his impressive form, marking his fourth goal involvement in six matches after coming under criticism from former boss Ruben Amorim.
Dorgu reveals one of his biggest strengths at United
Dorgu, 21, is approaching his one-year anniversary as a United player and he has experienced some difficult moments in the last 12 months.
There have been clear reminders of his age and lack of experience but there has never been a moment where the Premier League has seemed too physical for him.
The Dane has made 45 tackles so far this season and won 134 duels. He is regularly making challenges and getting himself around the pitch, and he believes that it is one of his main strengths.
Asked by United media how much he is enjoying the physical side of the Premier League, Dorgu responded: “Yeah, it’s obviously one of my [strongest] attributes, I’m really strong.
“I just try to put my body in there and get tackles and try to win the ball back as quickly as possible.”
The defender added: “Being on the pitch is a blessing for me so I just try to work on my game and have fun. I just try to enjoy playing with my teammates and in a big club like this.”
Dorgu’s physicality is crucial in the Premier League
For young players coming into United, especially when moving from abroad, the biggest concern is always whether they can deal with the intensity of the English game.
Dorgu’s game is far from perfect, and he must improve in several key areas, but that is not a worry for the 21-year-old and that is a big positive.
It means that, even when he is not having his best game on the ball, Dorgu can compete and make things difficult for opponents. It gives him a solid base-level.
The youngster is showing improvements in various areas of his game recently too, including his ability to impact the match in the final third, and he will look to keep improving.
