Patrice Evra chooses his ‘dream Man Utd coach’ with manager ‘keen’ on the job, “With no disrespect…”

Manchester United legend Patrice Evra has chosen his ‘dream’ manager for the Reds, whilst another is said to be ‘keen’ on taking the job.

Michael Carrick has managed to turn around the aspirations for Manchester United’s season since his arrival in January, with the Reds now sitting third in the Premier League table.

Most recently for United was a trip to St. James’ Park, where they fell short against a ten-man Newcastle United side, giving Carrick his first defeat since returning to the club.

With a staggering 19 points from a possible 24, Carrick has given his side a much-improved chance of returning to the UEFA Champions League next season.

Despite this fantastic start to life in the Old Trafford dugout, it remains a possibility that the 44-year-old will not be granted the role permanently. Patrice Evra has chosen his ‘dream’ candidate for the job.

Evra wants Enrique at United

The former United left-back has stated who he would like to replace Carrick in the summer, with him lauding Luis Enrique as a ‘dream’ option due to his philosophy.

Evra said, via Daily Star, “I’m not talking to the Man United board or Sir Jim Ratcliffe, but in my honest opinion, with no disrespect to PSG or Nasser Al-Khelaifi, but Luis Enrique would be a dream coach for Man United.

“I love the man, I love his philosophy, what he went through in his personal life and overcame it shows his personality.

“The job he’s done at PSG by bringing them a Champions League without Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe or Neymar, it’s a fantastic job. Players would have to work really hard to play for Man United; they’ll have to run a lot, and I think Enrique would bring that.”

De Zerbi ‘keen’ on the job

With Carrick’s future at the club still an uncertainty, a former Premier League manager has reportedly thrown his hat in the ring for the United job.

Roberto De Zerbi, who formerly managed Brighton, moved to Marseille in 2024, where he guided his side to a runner-up spot in Ligue 1 last term before departing in early 2026.

The Italian coach is said to be ‘keen’ on the United position, with his stock ‘remaining high’ amongst the United hierarchy, despite his departure from Marseille.

The 46-year-old innovative coach is also liked by the Tottenham Hotspur higher-ups, although with the Lilywhites currently fighting relegation, this may be an optimistic dream.
