Only Man United can give the Premier League what they desperately need – They need Rúben Amorim to succeed

Manchester United have won more Premier League trophies than any other club in history, but in the last 12 years, they have stumbled.

The Premier League might be richer and more competitive than ever – but according to talkSPORT’s Simon Jordan, it’s missing something crucial: a thriving Manchester United.

For over a decade, United have slowly succumbed to decline – a decade too long. Standards that were once set to the very highest levels have been allowed to slip.

Rúben Amorim is the man tasked with changing the culture of the club and so far this season, a noticeable improvement has been made.

The players look more united; he now has a group that are together, demonstrating a hard exterior. Pre-season helped create that ‘family’ environment and it is now bearing fruit.

United are the Premier League’s biggest asset

Since the recent resurrection of United, conversations have sparked about the importance of a successful United in the Premier League. A flourishing United elevates the brand of the Premier League.

Speaking passionately on talkSPORT, Jordan said: “If one of your leading brands within the confines of your business doesn’t achieve any value going forward for a period of time, it will eventually diminish the proposition, and it has done. Broadcast deals have gone backwards by 30%.”

Despite acknowledging United’s decade-long stagnation, he also mentioned the global appeal that United still have at their disposal. “United still get more news for being crap than other teams do for being good.”

Hated, adored, but Manchester United will never be ignored.

Red shoots of recovery at Old Trafford

United are now five Premier League games unbeaten, level on points with the Champions League places and just two points away from third. No fixture is ‘easy’ in the Premier League, but the next ten are definitely favourable.

The Reds should aim to stake a claim and secure a minimum of twenty points. If they can achieve that, the turbulent times that have troubled United for so long may be over.

Amorim has appeared to have overcome the most difficult period that he will face as manager, and the correct pieces have been put in place with the goal of creating long-term success.

United becoming the powerhouse of the Premier League again may finally feel like a genuine possibility in the not-too-distant future. Still, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his new club board must get it right.
