One Manchester United star will be very concerned about Omar Berrada’s ‘unacceptable’ warning this season

One Manchester United star will be very concerned about an ‘unacceptable’ warning from Omar Berrada this season.

Omar Berrada was among the Manchester United executives present at Old Trafford during the opening weekend of the Premier League season. Avram Glazer was also in attendance.

He would have been pleased by the performance, especially from Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, despite the end result being a 1-0 defeat.

While the new signings started well, there were questionable performances from players who had joined the club in recent transfer windows.

Berrada and the United board want to make sure that they do not wait too long for these players to adapt and improve their performance levels. That should concern one player in particular.

Berrada’s unacceptable warning to United squad

United have signed plenty of players over the last decade, and many of those have failed at Old Trafford. One of the problems has been the club’s inability to sell them after realising they aren’t good enough.

That is something that Berrada and his team want to change. The ex-Manchester City executive saw many players signed under Pep Guardiola across town. If they didn’t work out, it was simple, they were sold.

Previous reports at the beginning of last year from Fabrizio Romano explained that Berrada wants players to perform within the first two years of signing for the club.

It was explained that it will be deemed ‘unacceptable’ for players to stay at the club for three or four years despite poor performances.

Ugarte should be concerned about Berrada warning

Manuel Ugarte has only spent one year at United so far but the signs are concerning around the midfielder.

He ended last season very poorly, and was eventually dropped for the Europa League final, and made multiple mistakes which led to goals during pre-season.

Ugarte was brought on in the second half against Arsenal, and Berrada wouldn’t have been able to avoid his disastrous cameo. When he wasn’t passing the ball directly to Kai Havertz, the midfielder was either fouling, being bypassed or shooting into the stands.

This isn’t a one-off, and there are major question marks over Ugarte’s actual fit into the side. It is claimed that he is a ‘destroyer’ – but he does not have the power or defensive ability to win important duels. He will run out and leave space behind him for opponents to take advantage of. This is exactly what Fred was criticised for.

Berrada and his team want to be ruthless, and if there aren’t major improvements over the coming season, Ugarte should be concerned about his United future.
