Manchester United return to Premier League action as they face Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon, with Erik ten Hag missing up to eight players depending on late fitness tests.

Manchester United are currently the most in-form team in the Premier League, having accumulated more points in their last five games than anyone else in the competition (12).

This is a sign of positivity surrounding Erik ten Hag‘s team, who have endured a very mixed run of form across all competitions this season but will be looking to make it five wins in six as they travel to face Everton.

One man who has started every game for Ten Hag in the campaign thus far is André Onana, and although there was an injury scare last week, Ten Hag confirmed that the no. 24 should be fit to play.

Luke Shaw returned to Manchester United training on Wednesday morning, and Ten Hag revealed on Friday that he is fit to play at Goodison Park on Sunday. Rasmus Højlund’s fitness is still in the air – the club are waiting until a late fitness test to confirm any status.

Christian Eriksen, who pulled out of Denmark’s internationals alongside Højlund, is set to remain sidelined for another two or three weeks after suffering a knee problem against Luton Town.

Mason Mount has suffered a calf problem and although there is no official prognosis, the club fear he could be out for three or four weeks.

Lisandro Martínez and Tyrell Malacia remain sidelined, while Jonny Evans will not be fit in time, either. Martínez was spotted watching his teammates training on Wednesday as he continues his rehabilitation, which he is currently expected to finish in January.

Kobbie Mainoo is once again fully fit after facing a four-month layoff, and although Amad Diallo has returned to grass training, it is not expected that he will be in the squad to face Everton.

Jadon Sancho remains banned from all first-team activities after falling out with Erik ten Hag in September and is expected to leave Old Trafford on loan in January before securing a permanent move away in the summer.
