Omar Berrada has shown his impact at Manchester United so far by being the driving force behind two major decisions at the club.

Manchester United secured the services of Omar Berrada as the first chief executive under the INEOS regime in what was viewed as a major coup.

Berrada had been one of the key figures at rival club Manchester City and was viewed as the successor to Txiki Begiristain as sporting director at the Etihad Stadium.

However, now, the former Barcelona marketing manager has been leading the new project at Old Trafford and he has already led two important decisions that have shown his importance.

Berrada’s crucial role in two United decisions

United are moving quickly following the sacking of Erik ten Hag earlier this week. They have identified Ruben Amorim as the ideal replacement and are locked in negotiations with Sporting Lisbon to make the move happen.

According to a new report from The Athletic, Berrada is a huge admirer of Amorim and has been a key driver behind the push to appoint him at Old Trafford.

Reports elsewhere have claimed that there is a strong suspicion that United’s new CEO’s insider knowledge of City’s plans to appoint him as Pep Guardiola’s replacement led to the Reds acting so quickly.

Another example of Berrada being crucial in a key decision came in the summer window during United’s successful chase of Leny Yoro.

Yoro was one of Real Madrid’s key targets after the 2023/24 campaign and it looked nailed on for him to join Carlo Ancelotti’s side. However, Berrada was extremely keen to turn the young Frenchman’s head.

A prior report from The Athletic explained that Berrada led the final negotiations for the deal, with the chase becoming an ‘obsession’ for the United executive, who wanted to signal a new direction for the club by beating Madrid to one of the best defensive talents in Europe.

While the club are yet to see the benefit from that deal, with Yoro still out of action from a pre-season injury, there is no doubting that it will become a brilliant piece of business for United.

Berrada has started to flex his muscles at Old Trafford and being the driving force for these two deals, both of which happened at a frightening pace not recognised by many United fans, is a positive for the start of his tenure.
