Rúben Amorim has chosen to ignore selecting one of his Manchester United players since his return to training, with the star reportedly determined to leave.
Manchester United’s summer transfer window business was, for the most part, brilliant.
The four new first-team signings of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Šeško, and Senne Lammens have all settled into life under Rúben Amorim well, while the club raised a fair amount of cash from sales of excess players.
Alejandro Garnacho and Antony were sold for a combined £61.5 million, while Rasmus Højlund is near-certain to join Napoli for around £40 million next summer due to a conditional obligation to buy in his contract.
At the same time, Marcus Rashford is looking odds-on to join Barcelona for just under £30 million next summer, too, if he can keep his positive form going. Jadon Sancho was also moved to Aston Villa on loan, with the Birmingham side paying at least 80% of his wages.
The only player who was expected to leave but did not was Tyrell Malacia, who spent the second half of last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven and is yet to play for United this campaign.
Amorim not considering Malacia for selection
Malacia was part of a five-player group at Old Trafford who were barred from training with the rest of the first team by Amorim after they reportedly requested to leave the club, although this was then disputed by those close to the players.
Despite talks with the likes of Lille, AS Roma, Elche, and Saudi Pro League sides, Malacia could not find a successful route out of Old Trafford and was reintegrated into first-team training late last month after producing “off-the-chart” sessions with the U21s.
At the time, there were reports in the Netherlands that the Dutch left-back would be given a “serious chance” to break back into the team by Amorim, although this has yet to materialise.
Since returning to training with the group, Malacia has not been involved in the squads against either Sundland or Liverpool, and is clearly fairly far back in the mind of Amorim.
Malacia set for Turkey move in 2026
According to reports from the British media, Galatasaray are now “confident” of signing Malacia once his contract expires at the end of the season.

However, it is claimed that Malacia would be open to leaving in January if the Turkish club are prepared to pay United a small fee, as he is said to have “made up his mind to leave”.
The report adds that the 26-year-old’s relationship with Amorim is “beyond repair”. The Dutch defender was close to joining Elche late in the transfer window, but the move collapsed after the paperwork was not completed in time.
Malacia is not expected to feature for United this season, with the club only competing in the Premier League and FA Cup. Diego Leon is set to be ahead of him in the pecking order, while Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu is currently out of the side in favour of Diogo Dalot.
