“Obviously…” – Kobbie Mainoo delivers truthful verdict on ‘top’ Manchester United star and rubbishes rumours

Kobbie Mainoo has made his feelings clear about one ‘top’ teammate at Manchester United and has rubbished rumours surrounding the star.

Manchester United begun their Premier League campaign on the weekend and were unfortunate to come out with a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.

The performance suggested that United deserved more from the game, with Matheus Cunha being the standout player at Old Trafford.

Kobbie Mainoo would have felt unfortunate to not get on the pitch, especially after Manuel Ugarte’s poor display off the bench.

But the 20-year-old will be eager to prove himself in the coming games, where he will undoubtably get opportunities to impress.

Mainoo delivers truthful verdict on ‘top’ United star

Mainoo is the type of player that teammates love to play alongside on the pitch. He’s the type of technician who can link up with almost anybody in every area of the pitch.

Cunha is not too dissimilar, with the Brazilian keen to link up before driving with the ball up the field. Those two will likely build a strong relationship on the pitch in the coming months.

The Academy graduate has been impressed by Cunha’s start to life in United colours and issued a truthful verdict on his new teammate.

Despite rumours and pundits claiming that Cunha has an attitude problem, Mainoo also rubbished this by stating that he is a ‘really nice guy’ off the pitch.

“Top guy, really nice guy. Obviously everyone knows how good of a player he is, especially last season with the amount of goals he scored and even against us,” Mainoo told club media.

“In training and in games, so far he has looked really good and I have enjoyed playing with him. He loves football and he is really excited when we are playing. He’s a top guy, a really nice guy.”

Mainoo’s status improved without playing vs Arsenal

Mainoo himself will be looking to make an impact on the pitch soon and the upcoming Fulham clash could be the perfect opportunity for him.

Sometimes you don’t even need time on the pitch to improve your status and that’s what happened for the youngster on the weekend.

Ugarte’s display was so worrying and it feels unlikely that he will be selected to start this game, or even come off the bench.

Mainoo might not be guaranteed a starting spot but should be afforded time off the bench and he can then start to prove himself once again in that deeper role.

If he is on the left side, don’t be surprised if he is linking up with Cunha in attack.
