Noussair Mazraoui shows true colours with stance on new role under Ruben Amorim
Noussair Mazraoui has shown his true colours with his stance on his new role under Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.
Manchester United signed Noussair Mazraoui in the summer from Bayern Munich for around £12 million to replace the departing Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
So far this season the Moroccan has been one of the club’s best players and easily the signing of the summer.
He has also proven to be a versatile option for the squad, firstly under Erik ten Hag and now with Ruben Amorim.
In 18 appearances this term, the 27-year-old has played in four different positions – including as a central attacking midfielder.
His latest display came in the 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town, in which he started as the right-sided centre-back in Amorim’s back three.
Despite the result, it was another assured performance from the defender in a different position.
Some players aren’t always comfortable when moving between positions but Mazraoui’s openness to move to wherever he is needed speaks volumes about his attitude and abilities.

His close control and technical ability allows him to be comfortable in all different areas of the pitch.
“How often will I be playing right centre-back? That’s a question for Ruben [Amorim] I think!” he smiled when asked.
“Let me say, whenever the coach needs me, I play. I think in just three months here I’ve played already in four positions, so that says enough.”
The defender is one of those players who will be an absolute dream for any manager and Amorim will certainly get his use out of him.
In the longer term, it is more likely that he plays as a wingback but for now, with several defensive issues, he could be set to continue in the back three.
