Noussair Mazraoui recently discussed his time so far at Man United, highlighting personal impacts on his career and explaining his aspirations for the rest of the season.
The right back began his Manchester United career last season quite positively, becoming ‘Mr Reliable’ for the Red Devils. Seemingly never having a bad game and always being available, as he played 37 of the 38 league games last season.
However, this season has been very different, with only 15 of the 29 league games played so far. He has also struggled to regain his place in the starting line-up ahead of Diogo Dalot since his return from AFCON, despite many fans calling for Dalot to be replaced.
Furthermore, since Ruben Amorim’s departure and the implementation of a four-at-the-back formation, Mazraoui’s opportunities have become much scarcer.
Yet the Moroccan remains positive, seeing the promise within the squad as they strive to reach as high in the Premier League table as possible.
Mazraoui’s insight on United
In a recent interview with MUTV, Mazraoui was first asked for his thoughts on the operations under Michael Carrick and his staff, such as Jonathan Woodgate.
“I’m really liking it a lot. They are very communicative, really clear in what they want to do,” Mazraoui revealed.
“Of course, he has a big history at the club, so he knows the club really, really well, and you see, and you feel that in this type of coaching and the words he’s saying to us in his meetings, of course. So, yes, I’m really impressed.
“He’s [Woodgate] really positive. He’s really, really clear also. Like the whole staff knows what they want and they’re telling us. They are really clear and really positive, in a way which you really understand. So yes, it’s really, really good to work with them.
The Moroccan was also quizzed on whether any Premier League players stood out to him before his arrival, to which he had nothing but praise for his captain, Bruno Fernandes.
“Of course, Bruno Fernandes is really unbelievably good. His stats say a lot about him. And that’s of course one player which I’ve seen. I know other players from the Premier League already from watching on TV, but this guy I’m seeing now up close, I see what kind of special player he is.
Lastly, he was asked about the squad’s hopes and aims for the rest of the season, as well as his own personal goals.
“Well, personal goals, of course, to play good games, to end the season well, and of course, as a team, to be in European places at the end of the season. That’s a big goal for us, to start coming in a flow of what we’ve done lately and to keep that going.”

What could Mazraoui’s United future look like?
It is all looking very positive recently at Man United, with United becoming many people’s favourite to earn a spot in the top four by the end of the season. But as the team progresses and sets their sights on the big prizes, some players will have to be let go to make room for greater talents.
However, so far in his career, Mazraoui has made a pretty solid case that he has what it takes to be a part of a United squad reaching for the dizzy heights of a Premier League or Champions League triumph.
In just a season and a half in England, he has showcased a unique ability to play in multiple positions, such as right-back, left-back, centre-back, and even as an attacking midfielder under Erik ten Hag. Performing at a high level everywhere he has played, he could be a real asset for the future.

He also has a valuable pedigree and experience, having won league titles in both Holland and Germany whilst being a focal point in some immensely talented teams.
Many Manchester United players have been and will be questioned whether they are good enough to make a career at the club, but so far, it seems Mazraoui will not be one of them, and he could become hugely important in the club’s quest to return to glory.
