Noussair Mazraoui delivers x-rated assessment of Man Utd’s season before sending confident Europa League message

Noussair Mazraoui has been speaking to the media ahead of Manchester United’s all-important Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur

Next Wednesday is set to be a crucial night for Manchester United, who can secure a spot in the 2025/26 Champions League with a victory in the Europa League final.

Lifting the trophy would also mark a significant achievement during one of the club’s most turbulent recent periods—signalling a third piece of silverware in as many years for the Reds.

That said, their Premier League struggles remain a concern and will need substantial improvement next season under Ruben Amorim’s leadership.

Their final opponents, Tottenham Hotspur, find themselves in a strikingly similar situation. At present, Spurs are the only team below United in the Premier League table not facing relegation.

Both sides have endured difficult domestic campaigns, but a Europa League triumph would offer a much-needed positive end to their seasons.

Mazraoui says Europa League success won’t fix sh*tty season

Amorim has faced the media a lot of times in recent weeks, and his messaging about the final remains the same in all of those interviews.

While the success of the Europa League would be good, it would certainly not solve the issues from this season and make up for the terrible domestic campaign.

That stance is clearly shared amongst the playing squad, with Noussair Mazraoui echoing those opinions with an x-rated message to reporters this week.

In the build-up to the final, the Moroccan defender was asked what winning the European competition would do for the side after their poor Premier League campaign.

“Well, the Europa League season would be a success and the Premier League season would still not be successful, those are the facts,” the 27-year-old said.

“Of course at the end you’re with a prize, but you have a lot of competitions you play in and the biggest one is, of course, the Premier League.

“Because you play the most games there and that’s week-in, week-out, so people are going to set their opinion more to the Premier League.

“So yeah, like I said, the Europa League season will be a big success but the Premier League season will be sh*tty.”

Mazraoui sends confident Europa League message

There are some certainly some interesting dynamics heading into this all-English final.

Spurs have got the better of United in all three of the games they have played in the Premier League and Carabao Cup, yet the general consensus is that United are favourites because of their history in finals.

Manchester City had beat United both times in the league last term before losing out in the FA Cup final against the Reds and Mazraoui is also of the belief that it is a different prospect facing off against Spurs in a European final.

Asked further about the fact that United have lost three times to Ange Postecoglou’s side this season, Mazraoui confidently replied: “As I said, that’s Premier League. It’s going to be different – it’s the Europa League, it’s a final, so it’s going to be different.”
