Nottingham Forest star solves Rúben Amorim dilemma after superb display in Man Utd’s 2-2 draw

Nottingham Forest’s brightest spark impressed against Manchester United as a summer move for him could be on the cards.

Rúben Amorim’s side were pushed all the way to the end in a tight 2-2 draw against Sean Dyche’s Nottingham Forest.

Casemiro grabbed the first goal of the game, now scoring in back-to-back games for Manchester United. The Brazilian got his head on the end of a Bruno Fernandes corner to find the back of the net despite Forest’s arguments against the initial ball by the officials.

However, Forest were lightning-quick in the second half, scoring two goals in the first five minutes. Two crosses, one met by the head of Morgan Gibbs-White and another by Nicolo Savona, giving themselves the advantage.

Amad rounded up the scoring for the afternoon with a sublime volley after a headed clearance. The 23-year-old connected with the ball cleanly as his effort flew past Matz Sels, securing a point for United and his first goal of the season.

But there was a standout player for Forest who could have just played a brilliant audition for a potential Summer move.

Elliot Anderson’s electric performance could secure his ticket to Old Trafford.

Elliot Anderson was all over the pitch with another impressive display this season. The Englishman was the facilitator in many of Forest’s chances today, creating the space to find the electric runs of his teammates.

It’s no secret that United have been searching for a solution for their midfield issues, as Casemiro does not look to be a long-term solution, and Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte don’t seem to be the right fit for Amorim’s system.

Anderson demonstrated in his performance today that he can break up opposition attacks and transition the ball smoothly from defence to attack.

The 22-year-old found himself evading the constant pressure of United’s midfield and spreading play out wide in the spaces where Forest found the majority of their chances.

United have a history with Mbeumo and Cunha

In past seasons, United have struggled to handle the threat of their current players, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who both excelled when facing United for their former teams.

This display from Anderson has given Amorim a first-hand experience of what the Forest midfielder can do in the middle of the pitch, much like United’s summer signings.

Anderson has already made his name in Thomas Tuchel’s books, getting his first caps in an England shirt and impressing whilst doing so.

United fans will be optimistic about this potential signing. However, it is set to come with a heavy price tag. Anderson is one of the highest-rated prospects in the Premier League, and his profile could be the answer to United’s problems.

Nevertheless, his performance against Amorim’s side should be a clear message to the Portuguese manager of how effective Anderson could be in a United shirt.
