The Premier League have confirmed the referee to take charge of Manchester United’s trip to face Nottingham Forest on Tuesday evening.
After a two-week break for international duty, Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United are set to resume their Premier League campaign with an away trip to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, 1 April.
United were in excellent form before the pause, claiming two victories over Real Sociedad, a commanding 3-0 win against Leicester City, and a 1-1 draw with Arsenal.
Bruno Fernandes has been at the heart of their recent success, scoring five goals and providing two assists in his last three appearances.
The meeting with Forest offers a chance for United to pick up where they left off, though Amorim will be carefully managing his squad with a busy run of fixtures ahead — including a Manchester Derby and a Europa League quarter-final showdown with Olympique Lyonnais.
Confirmed officials
Jarred Gillett (pictured below) will be the referee on Tuesday evening in Nottingham. Gillett has ten Premier League fixtures this season, one in the Champions League, and five others in domestic competitions
Gillett has met United once this season. He officiated the club’s 1-1 draw and eventual penalty loss against Manchester City in the Community Shield back in August.
Gillett has been the centre of controversy at points this season, having officiated or been in control of VAR for multiple Arsenal fixtures this season despite being a reported fan of their title rivals, Liverpool. However, it’s unlikely that his supposed allegiances will have an effect on United’s result.
So far this season, Gillett has issued 44 yellow cards in the Premier League and 64 across all competitions. He has issued no straight red card but one through yellow cards, as well as awarding three penalties this season, two coming in the Premier League.
During the game, Darren Cann and Marc Perry will serve as Bramall’s assistant referees. Sam Barrott will be the fourth official on Sunday afternoon, separating Amorim and Nuno Espírito Santo.
Michael Salisbury has been appointed as the Video Assistant Referee. Adrian Holmes will act as assistant VAR.
