“Not impressed…” Ruben Amorim urged to sell three INEOS signings as part of Manchester United clear-out

Ruben Amorim has been urged to sell three of the Manchester United players which INEOS signed for the club just last summer as part of the clear-out.

Manchester United have concluded one of their most disappointing seasons in decades, and significant changes are urgently needed to turn things around at Old Trafford.

The Reds must focus on bringing in high-quality signings, such as Matheus Cunha, while also offloading a lot of players in the months ahead.

Ruben Amorim will also be under pressure to refine his tactical approach in the Premier League following a challenging start to life in England.

Many believe this summer transfer window is United’s most crucial in recent memory — one that could serve as a catalyst for meaningful progress if the right decisions are made.

Amorim urged to sell three INEOS signings

While there are a lot of players who have been at the club for a longer time and need to be sold, some would argue that it would be a bigger statement of intent to sell players before allowing them to remain at Old Trafford for multiple years.

Last summer was INEOS’ first in charge and they brought in five first-team signings worth around £200 million. Leny Yoro and Noussair Mazraoui have been the standouts from that group.

But ex-Premier League striker Chris Sutton believes that the other three – Matthijs de Ligt, Manuel Ugarte and Joshua Zirkzee – are not good enough and should be sold this summer.

Speaking to MailSport, initially about De Ligt, Sutton said: “If I had to choose between keeping him or Harry Maguire, it’s a no contest. De Ligt doesn’t bring what’s required to the back line.

“I’m not impressed by him [Ugarte], not for a fee that could hit £51m. Could United recoup close to that? Well, that’s not my problem!

“United want to get to the top of the Premier League and into the Champions League. Is Zirkzee a player who gets you there? Not for me, he isn’t.”

Players usually given benefit of doubt after joining United

United don’t often sell players so soon after they sign for the club. There is a major change when you arrive at Old Trafford and in the Premier League and so many players are given the benefit of the doubt early on.

We’ve even seen in Zirkzee’s case that clear improvements can be made when you are able to settle into your new life at the club.

But there are certainly question marks over all three players and no player can be free of scrutiny after finishing 15th in the Premier League.

Whether or not any of those sales actually happen is one thing, but if any of them do it would at least be a sign of intent. Underperforming players have been safe at United for too long.
