Not Carlos Baleba: Brighton star told he would make ‘huge difference’ to Man Utd in shock January move

While Manchester United remain interested in Carlos Baleba, another Brighton star has been told he could make a big difference at Old Trafford.

In the most recent summer transfer window, Manchester United brought in three new attacking players after moving on from Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Rasmus Højlund.

The additions of Benjamin Šeško, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo generated real excitement, with Mbeumo emerging as the standout signing since joining from Brentford.

But there are still holes in the squad at Old Trafford and the club will be looking to strengthen in upcoming transfer windows.

Some have argued that the Reds need to bring in an experienced no.9 to help Šeško avoid the same fate that saw Rasmus Højlund decline at the club.

Brighton star told he would make ‘huge difference’ to United

United’s interest in Brighton star Carlos Baleba is no secret and he could join the club next summer, but there is another star playing for the Seagulls who could also make an impact at Old Trafford.

Former United striker Louis Saha has claimed that the Reds should look to resign Danny Welbeck as he would make a ‘huge difference.

Speaking about the impact Welbeck could have, Saha said: “I would have loved United to sign Danny at the start of the season. He’s not just very talented, but he’s very efficient and he’s experienced.

“When I came to the club, there was [Ruud] Van Nistelrooy and [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer, but we had more than that. We had [Carlos] Tevez and Alan Smith, and there was depth, there was a variety. We all learned from each other.

“I think Sesko and other forward players would benefit by having someone like Welbeck to challenge them, to make them learn more about the game, more about positioning.

“Welbeck’s experience would give an example for them to all learn from, and I think if Danny arrives in the winter transfer window, he could make a huge difference to results on the pitch.”

Wilcox was interested in Welbeck

Speaking about Welbeck returning to United is not an outrageous claim, as he was a player Jason Wilcox was considering in the summer.

United decided against moving for him due to his age but that stance could have easily changed by now, although Brighton would not let the experienced striker leave easily.

But even if it is not Welbeck, United should be looking to add that experienced option in their squad soon to help players like Šeško.
